Liz Lalos

French Instructor

Elizabeth Lalos–Civitarese was born in Worcester, Massachusetts.  Daughter of immigrant Greek parents, she spoke Greek as her first language, not learning English until starting kindergarten.  Her love of the French language and culture took root from her very first French class at the age of 13 and ever since she has pursued her passion for French. She graduated with a BA in French and English Literature from Clark University.  After spending a year in Reims, France as a teaching assistant in French schools, she obtained her MA in Translation from l’Université de Montréal in Québec, Canada.

Returning to Massachusetts, she studied Spanish and then Italian- the latter inspired by a chance meeting with her Italian husband-to-be on an international flight. Elizabeth believes that growing up in a Greek-American family has made her the person she is today and her upbringing has greatly contributed to her passion for foreign language.
