Class Structure

➤ Do you have classes for children?

No, we are a language program focused on adult education and generally do not accept students under the age of 15.

➤ Where do classes take place?

We offer group and private classes online via Zoom and in person at our location in Waltham, MA. Private classes can also sometimes be arranged at alternative locations within the Greater Boston area upon request.

➤ How big are class sizes?

The maximum number of students for in-person classes is 8, while online classes are capped at 12 students. These small group sizes ensure that each student receives individual attention, personalized feedback, and plenty of opportunities to participate.

➤ Are classes recorded?

No, our classes are not recorded in order to protect student privacy and create a comfortable, low-pressure environment for participation.

➤ Are textbooks and other learning materials provided by the school?

Textbooks are not provided by the school and should be purchased separately by each student. Please note that textbooks are recommended but not required. We suggest purchasing a used copy via Amazon or a similar online seller as you do not need any lab or online access codes. All other learning materials (e.g., worksheets, study guides, etc.) will be provided directly by the school.

➤ Are all of your instructors native speakers?

All of our instructors are either native speakers or highly experienced teachers with advanced degrees in their languages of instruction, often having spent significant time in countries where their respective languages are spoken.

Learning & Levels

Do I need any experience to join a beginner class?

Not at all! Our beginner programs are designed for students with little to no prior experience. You're also welcome to join a beginner class even if you have some experience but feel like you need a refresher.

➤ I'm not a beginner, but how do I know which level is right for me?

If you are unsure of which level is best for you, feel free to contact us using the form at the bottom of this page. We'll set up a free 15-minute consultation with one of our instructors to recommend the best fit.

➤ What if I take my first class and feel that the level isn’t a good match?

Let us know right away! As long as you let us know before your second week of classes, we can easily transfer you to a more appropriate level.

➤ What is the time commitment outside of class?

We typically recommend about 1–2 hours per week of review or practice outside of class to reinforce what you’ve learned, though this can vary depending on your goals.

➤ How long will it take me to be "fluent"?

Fluency depends on several factors, including your starting level, consistency, and how much you practice outside of class. Most students begin communicating in basic conversations within the first few weeks, but true fluency develops over time and consistent exposure. Our goal is to help you build real, practical communication skills step by step, so you can confidently use the language in everyday situations.

Schedules & Policies

➤ How often do sessions start?

Most programs are offered on a monthly basis, though some begin every other month depending on student interest and teacher availability.

➤ Do you offer classes on the weekends?

Yes! Group classes for some languages are offered on weekends. Private lessons are also available on weekends depending on the availability of our instructors.

➤ What if I don’t see a schedule that works for me?

Let us know! We’ll do our best to create an option that will work for you.

➤ Can I join a class that has already started?

Yes, we can usually accommodate late enrollments. Please contact us and we’ll help you get up to speed by sharing any materials you may have missed.

➤ What is your refund policy?

Group Classes: Students may request a refund up until the day before the second class of the session for which they have registered (i.e., the day before Class #2 in an 8-week session). This means that students may attend the first class and still choose to withdraw, as long as they do so before the day of the second class. Refunds requested before this deadline will be processed within 3–5 business days.

Private / Semi-Private / Private Group Lessons: Refunds are not granted if a student has used more than 2 hours in a package. However, these hours remain valid for one year from the purchase date and can be scheduled at any time within that period.

What if I can’t attend one of the group classes during the session?

If you are unable to attend one of the group classes during the session, whether it is due to a prior commitment, illness, or emergency, you may request a private, 30-minute make-up lesson with your instructor for the price of $25. These make-up classes are not obligatory, so you may also simply ask your instructor to send you any important classwork or homework that you may have missed via email so you can catch up before your next class.

➤ What if I have to cancel a private/semi-private/small private group lesson with my instructor?

Students must notify teachers at least 24 hours in advance if they need to cancel or reschedule a lesson, otherwise the scheduled time will be deducted from their total number of hours purchased.

General Questions

What if I don’t see the language that I’m looking for?

Contact us! We’ll put you on a waiting list and alert you once we have enough interest to form a class.

➤ Can I take a class at Boston Language Hub to receive high school or college credit?

Most high schools and universities do not accept the completion of classes through Boston Language Hub for academic credit. However, exceptions are sometimes made and are dependent upon each school or university’s unique requirements regarding curriculum and hours completed.
