
Haitian Creole - High Beginner 1

Course Description
This is a standard class that meets once per week for 8 consecutive weeks: November 19 – January 21 (*No class December 24 and 31 in recognition of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.) For those who have completed the Beginner course or who have a foundation in Haitian Creole, this class will build on basic phrases and vocabulary with an emphasis on pronunciation, grammar, and simple conversation skills. Short stories and texts will also be introduced to improve reading comprehension. Topics: clothing, nature, food, traditions, and transportation Objectives: months of the year, seasons, relative clauses, modal auxiliaries, food vocabulary, comparatives and superlatives, expressions of quantity, adverbs, dependent clauses, modal verbs, weather expressions, serial verbs, and demonstratives Textbook: Ann Pale Kreyòl, 2nd edition
