Course Description

This is a standard class that meets once per week for 8 consecutive weeks: February 4 – March 25. This level is intended for those who have completed the High Beginner 1 course or who have a strong foundation in basic French (students should be comfortable conversing in the present tense). In this class, there will be an emphasis on pronunciation refinement, reinforcing fundamental grammar, and oral comprehension. Irregular verbs and expressions will be reviewed or introduced as needed. Students will learn to describe actions in the past tense and how to make requests/commands. Topics: travel, vacation, tourism, describing people, hobbies Objectives: expressions with "avoir," the present tense of -ir and -re verbs, the imperative, the simple past tense using "avoir" and "être" irregular verbs in the present and past, the past tense with the expression "il y a" Textbook: Contacts (8th Edition), Unit 5, Lessons 13-15
